Dawson College Foundation, building on a tradition of preparing students for life
Since 1969, Dawson College has been committed to offering the highest calibre education to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Today, Dawson proudly marks its place as the largest college in the 48-member CEGEP network, with 10,000 full and part-time students enrolled in more than 50 programs.
Dawson has earned the enviable reputation for excellence in delivery of programs and services. As society faces pressing challenges and increasingly complex issues, we must provide our students with an education that transcends the traditional classroom. Dawson’s student community has educational needs that are substantially more diverse than ever before. The College is therefore setting its sights on a series of new initiatives to address these societal issues and educational needs while building on its tradition of preparing students for life.
All of Dawson’s activities enrich student life, but some are more difficult to fund under traditional government funding formulas. These para-academic initiatives often need to find alternate funding sources. The Foundation looks for support from the internal and external community to supplement resources so that no valid project goes unfunded.
Students from across Quebec have made Dawson College their first-choice cegep
Dawson College currently offers five pre-university programs and 21 technical programs, as well as a thriving Continuing Education service. Optional Dawson certificates, pathways and learning communities enhance the academic experience with themed content and allow small groups to journey through classes together.
There are many opportunities to learn and grow outside of class too. Explorers can join S.P.A.C.E. (Sciences Participating with Arts and Culture in Education), individuals seeking to connect with nature can volunteer on the Sustainabili-Team, and would-be programmers can join Coffee ’n Code. Athletes play on 17 different sports teams for the Dawson Blues.
When students have a free moment, they can enjoy the heritage campus, which has been designated an urban biodiversity zone and monarch butterfly oasis. A Dawson education offers the preparation required to face evolving challenges in a complex world. As a sign of its commitment to the betterment of society and the well-being of its students and the planet. Dawson College has pledged to be Carbon Neutral Forever.
