The technologist is responsible for the care of the patients during the course of their treatments and for the safe and efficient organization of the work load and work area. Radiation Oncology graduates are qualified to work in all areas of the profession, including: treatment planning and simulation, dosimetry, fabrication of treatment accessory equipment and brachytherapy.<br \/>\nAs part of their professional duty, Radiation Oncology\u00a0 technologists (radiation therapists):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>explain procedures, answer questions and provide comfort and emotional support, both to patients and family members<\/li>\n<li>counseling patients on possible side effects from treatment and providing advice on how to minimize them<\/li>\n<li>ensure that proper radiation handling and protection\u00a0procedures\u00a0are followed<\/li>\n<li>administer radiation treatments<\/li>\n<li>monitor patients during procedures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Students Profile<\/h2>\n<p>As prospective radiation oncology\u00a0technologists, students are expected to be trustworthy, cooperative and respectful towards others.
