You can apply online. If you meet the College&#8217;s entrance requirements, your name will be sent to the Professional Theatre program. We will then arrange an audition with you.<\/p>\n<p>Auditions will be held at Dawson College in room 3A.3 on the following dates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Saturday, March 28, 2020: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Friday, April 3, 2020: 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Saturday, April 4, 2020: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Appointments will be given once applicants are accepted by the college.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style>\n\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t.dc_accordion .dc_accordion-body:before{\n\t\t\t\tdisplay: block;\n\t\t\t\theight: 10px;height: 1rem;\n\t\t\t\tcontent: \"\";\n\t\t\t}\n\n\t\t\t\n\n\n\t\t<\/style>\n\n\n\t\t<div id=\"how-do-i-prepare-for-the-audition\" class=\"new dc_accordion  \" style=\"\" ><h2 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#how-do-i-prepare-for-the-audition\">How Do I Prepare For The Audition?<\/a><\/h2><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><p>You need to prepare three pieces for your audition: one monologue from a Shakespeare play; one monologue from a contemporary play; and a short, unaccompanied song. The whole audition should be no longer than 5 minutes, so time yourself doing all of your pieces. After the audition you will be interviewed by a panel of teachers from the Professional Theatre Program.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<div id=\"what-type-of-monologues-do-i-choose\" class=\"new dc_accordion  \" style=\"\" ><h2 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#what-type-of-monologues-do-i-choose\">WHAT TYPE OF MONOLOGUES DO I CHOOSE?<\/a><\/h2><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><p>Choose monologues that have characters that interest you and are accessible to you. Choose pieces that show different sides of your personality. Memorize all of your pieces. Remember, acting is about becoming the character, not reciting memorized lines to listeners.<\/p>\n<p>You may choose your own Shakespeare and Contemporary monologue, or choose from the following examples.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www-chris.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/professional-theatre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/monologues_shakespeare_female.pdf\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shakespeare Female<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www-chris.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/professional-theatre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/monologue_shakespeare_male.pdf\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shakespeare Male<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www-chris.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/professional-theatre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/monologues_contemporary_female.pdf\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Contemporary Female<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www-chris.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/professional-theatre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/monologues_contemporary_male.pdf\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Contemporary Male<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n<div id=\"do-i-need-previous-training\" class=\"new dc_accordion  \" style=\"\" ><h2 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#do-i-need-previous-training\">DO I NEED PREVIOUS TRAINING?<\/a><\/h2><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><p>You do not need previous training in order to get into the program; however, you do need to have a real interest in becoming an actor, and some ability as well. Some students do get coaching for their auditions, although it is not essential. Just make sure that you are well prepared.<br \/><\/div><\/div>\n<div id=\"what-if-i-am-not-a-singer\" class=\"new dc_accordion  \" style=\"\" ><h2 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#what-if-i-am-not-a-singer\">WHAT IF I AM NOT A SINGER?<\/a><\/h2><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><p>Treat the song as another acting challenge. Enjoy the words, enjoy the music, capture the &#8220;character&#8221; of the song, and above all, enjoy the performance. We are not a musical theatre school, so are not necessarily expecting you to be a brilliant singer &#8211; just be a good entertainer.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<div id=\"how-many-students-do-you-accept\" class=\"new dc_accordion  \" style=\"\" ><h2 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#how-many-students-do-you-accept\">HOW MANY STUDENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?<\/a><\/h2><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><p>We accept 32 students every year, and they go into two first year groups of 16 students each. The audition, therefore, is competitive, which is a good thing. If you are accepted you know that you have earned a place in the school and have some ability.
