From September 13th \u2013 21st (Peace Week) Dawson College will be hosting a series of events. Peace Week will start with the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the 2006 shooting, and end at City Hall on the International Day of Peace where the Director General will take the stage as part of a Ville de Montreal Peace initiative with Dawson College and the Dawson College Peace Centre as a partnering institution.<\/p>\n

The Peace Centre\u2019s theme for this 2016-2017 Academic Year is Reconciliation and Restoration, with this in mind we are supporting, hosting and organizing initiatives throughout Peace Week, and the year, that focuses on making practical applications to peace that in some way provide a means of reconciliation of a conflict or a restoration of an injustice.<\/p>\n

Dr. Samantha Nutt: Community Engagement<\/h3>\n

Dr. Samantha Nutt is an award-winning humanitarian, bestselling author and acclaimed public speaker.<\/p>\n

In July 2011, Dr. Nutt was appointed to the Order of Canada, Canada\u2019s highest civilian honour, for her contributions to improving the plight of young people in the world’s worst conflict zones. Dr. Nutt is a staff physician at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto, a Senior Fellow at Massey College, University of Toronto and sits on the board of the David Suzuki Foundation.<\/p>\n

Dr. Abdennour Bidar, docteur en philosophie, a \u00e9t\u00e9 enseignant pendant une vingtaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es avant d\u2019\u00eatre charg\u00e9 de mission au minist\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00c9ducation nationale de France. Il est l\u2019auteur d\u2019ouvrages qui continuent d\u2019alimenter les grands d\u00e9bats de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 actuels dont “Plaidoyer pour la fraternit\u00e9”, en r\u00e9action aux r\u00e9cents attentats de Paris, “L\u2019Islam sans soumission\u00a0: pour un existentialisme musulman, Pour une p\u00e9dagogie de la la\u00efcit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole, Histoire de l\u2019humanisme en Occident, etc. Son dernier ouvrage, “Les Tisserands” a \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9 en 2016 aux \u00c9ditions\u00a0Les Liens qui lib\u00e8rent.<\/p>\n
