The season ended abruptly because of the COVID-19 pandemic but there is much to celebrate. These highlights were compiled by Dawson&#8217;s S\u00e9bastien Rivest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fall Sports<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arrival of 2 new sports at Dawson: golf and baseball<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s Rugby falls short in the final to John Abbott 29-12 for the second year in a row<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s Soccer qualifies for the Provincials by beating the Outaouais Griffons by a score of 1-0 at the Conference Championship. They fell short in the bronze medal game of the provincials to the Cegep of Sainte-Foy in penalties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Year-long sports<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Men\u2019s volleyball team begins competition in the RSEQ Division 2 Sud-Ouest league replacing the Co-Ed volleyball team.<\/li>\n<li>Division 2 Men\u2019s Basketball finished in 1<sup>st<\/sup> place of their pool with 14 wins and 2 losses. They would have hosted a playoff game if the leagues would have kept going.<\/li>\n<li>Division 2 Women\u2019s Basketball: qualified for the playoffs after a regular season of 12 wins and 2 losses. They would have hosted a playoff game if the leagues would have kept going.<\/li>\n<li>Badminton team goes undefeated in the regular season, 20 wins in 20 games.<\/li>\n<li>Division 1 Men\u2019s Basketball team closes the regular season in 4<sup>th<\/sup> position, then proceeds to beat the Champlain St-Lambert Cavaliers in the \u00bc final game to qualify for the Provincials. They lose to Vanier (semi-final) and Montmorency in the bronze medal game.<\/li>\n<li>Division 1 Men\u2019s Basketball player Renoldo Robinson (pictured) is named the league Rookie of the Year and is voted to the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> all-star team.<\/li>\n<li>Division 1 Women\u2019s Basketball team wins 15 of their 16 regular season games and finished in the 1<sup>st<\/sup> position of the regular season. After beating the Montmorency Nomades in the semi-final, they lose to the Sainte-Foy Dynamiques in the final of the provincials. Despite that loss, the team clinched a spot to represent the RSEQ at the CCAA Nationals for the fourth consecutive season. CCAA Nationals were cancelled a couple of days later due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/li>\n<li>For a fourth consecutive year, D1 Women\u2019s Coach Trevor Williams is voted Coach of the Year in the RSEQ Conference.<\/li>\n<li>Freshman A\u00efcha Dia is voted Rookie of the Year in the RSEQ Conference.<\/li>\n<li>Senior Taisha Exanor is voted Player of the Year in the RSEQ Conference.<\/li>\n<li>Exanor and her teammate Mackenzie Ash-Smith are named CCAA All-Canadians.<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s Hockey team Justine Yelle is named for the second time Student-Athlete of the year in the RSEQ Division 1 Women\u2019s Hockey League. She also won that Award last season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Events<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Athletics Department hosted for the 1<sup>st<\/sup> time since 2012 the RSEQ Division 1 Basketball Provincials with huge success.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Going to the next level<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Division 1 Women\u2019s Basketball Team<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alexa Neal, University of Windsor (Usports)<\/p>\n<p>Mackenzie Ash-Smith, Appalachian State (NCAA D1)<\/p>\n<p>Taisha Exanor, University of Pittsburgh (NCAA D1)<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Division 1 Women\u2019s Hockey Team<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nAlexandra-Anne Boyer, University of Connecticut (NCAA D1)<\/p>\n<p>Marie Terriault, University of Montreal (USports)<\/p>\n<p>Justine Yelle, Concordia University (USports)<\/p>\n<p>Mia V\u00e4\u00e4n\u00e4nen, McGill University (USports)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are the highlights of the 2019-2020 season of our beloved Dawson Blues.
