{"id":2581,"date":"2020-01-07T11:47:29","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T16:47:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www-chris.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/news\/?post_type=digest&#038;p=2581"},"modified":"2020-01-07T11:47:29","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T16:47:29","slug":"nomination-deadline-is-jan-24-for-lieutenant-governors-youth-medal","status":"publish","type":"digest","link":"https:\/\/www-chris.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/news\/dnews\/nomination-deadline-is-jan-24-for-lieutenant-governors-youth-medal\/","title":{"rendered":"Nomination deadline is Jan. 24 for Lieutenant Governor\u2019s Youth Medal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lieutenant Governor\u2019s Medal is to recognize the involvement, determination and constant striving of Quebecers who have a positive influence in their community.<\/p>\n<p>Dawson College can recommend up to two students. <strong>Faculty and staff members can nominate students to the Awards Office until 4 p.m. Jan. 24.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>To be eligible for a nomination<\/strong> by an educational establishment, the student must, at the time of the submission:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cic.gc.ca\/english\/citizenship\/rules\/index.asp\">Canadian citizen<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cic.gc.ca\/english\/newcomers\/about-pr.asp\">permanent resident<\/a>\u00a0within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canlii.org\/en\/ca\/laws\/stat\/sc-2001-c-27\/latest\/sc-2001-c-27.html\">SC 2001, c 27<\/a>.) and reside permanently in Qu\u00e9bec;<\/li>\n<li>be under 29 years of age;<\/li>\n<li>be registered at a secondary school, college or university, public or private, or a vocational training centre (within a school board) located in Quebec, of which the program is recognized by the Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00c9ducation et de l&#8217;Enseignement sup\u00e9rieur;<\/li>\n<li>by her or his involvement:\n<ul>\n<li>have demonstrated a sustained voluntary action at the community and social levels;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>or<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>have shown an inspiring attitude, a positive influence inside a group or community;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>be able to achieve the objectives of her or his curriculum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To nominate a Dawson College student, use the nomination form: <a href=\"https:\/\/www-chris.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/awards-scholarships\/lieutenant-governors-youth-medal-nomination-form\/\">https:\/\/www-chris.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/awards-scholarships\/lieutenant-governors-youth-medal-nomination-form\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lieutenant Governor\u2019s Medal is to recognize the involvement, determination and constant striving of Quebecers who have a positive influence in their community.
