The calculation is based on gross family income.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"faq-content\"><div class=\"dc_faq\" id=\"what-is-the-dawson-institutional-code\"><div class=\"dc_faq-title\"><button>What is the Dawson Institutional code?<\/button><\/div><div class=\"dc_faq-body\"> <\/p>\n<p>Dawson&#8217;s institutional code is 933000.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"faq-content\"><div class=\"dc_faq\" id=\"are-loans-and-bursaries-available-for-the-summer-terms\"><div class=\"dc_faq-title\"><button>Are loans and bursaries available for the summer terms?<\/button><\/div><div class=\"dc_faq-body\"> <\/p>\n<p>Students who are &#8220;deemed full-time&#8221; are eligible for funding through the Summer session.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"faq-content\"><div class=\"dc_faq\" id=\"what-does-it-mean-to-be-deemed-full-time\"><div class=\"dc_faq-title\"><button>What does it mean to be deemed full-time?<\/button><\/div><div class=\"dc_faq-body\"> <\/p>\n<p>You are &#8220;deemed full-time&#8221; if you fit into one of the following categories.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you are a graduating student with less than four courses<\/li>\n<li>single parent with children under the age of 12<\/li>\n<li>married with children under the age of 6<\/li>\n<li>major functional disability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"faq-content\"><div class=\"dc_faq\" id=\"what-is-a-guarantee-certificate-where-do-i-get-it\"><div class=\"dc_faq-title\"><button>What is a guarantee certificate? Where do I get it?<\/button><\/div><div class=\"dc_faq-body\"> <\/p>\n<p>A guarantee certificate is the agreement between the ministry and the student to allow for your funding to be deposited directly into your bank account.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"faq-content\"><div class=\"dc_faq\" id=\"when-do-i-have-to-pay-back-my-loans\"><div class=\"dc_faq-title\"><button>When do I have to pay back my loans?<\/button><\/div><div class=\"dc_faq-body\"> <\/p>\n<p>You must start to pay back your loans when you are no longer a full-time student. Payment arrangements will be made through your financial institution.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"faq-content\"><div class=\"dc_faq\" id=\"how-long-how-many-semesters-years-can-i-participate-in-the-loans-and-bursary-program\"><div class=\"dc_faq-title\"><button>How long\/How many semesters\/years can I participate in the loans and bursary program?<\/button><\/div><div class=\"dc_faq-body\"> <\/p>\n<p>For a 2 year pre-university program, students can receive funding for a maximum of 33 months. For a 3 year technical program, students can receive funding for a maximum of 42 months. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"faq-content\"><div class=\"dc_faq\" id=\"i-live-on-my-own-will-my-parents-income-still-be-taken-into-consideration-when-calculating-my-loan-amount\"><div class=\"dc_faq-title\"><button>I live on my own. Will my parents income still be taken into consideration when calculating my loan amount?<\/button><\/div><div class=\"dc_faq-body\"> <\/p>\n<p>If you do not qualify as an autonomous student, then yes your parents income is required.<\/p>\n<p>Autonomy is defined by the Aide Financi\u00e8re aux \u00e9tudes as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>married, divorced or widowed<\/li>\n<li>parent or 20 weeks pregnant<\/li>\n<li>out of full-time studies for 7 years<\/li>\n<li>out of full-time studies for 24 months and employed (consecutive or non-consecutive)<\/li>\n<li>first degree at the university level completed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"faq-content\"><div class=\"dc_faq\" id=\"are-loans-and-bursaries-taxable-where-do-i-get-a-tax-receipt\"><div class=\"dc_faq-title\"><button>Are Loans and Bursaries taxable? Where do I get a tax receipt?<\/button><\/div><div class=\"dc_faq-body\"> <\/p>\n<p>Only bursaries are considered income and you will receive a tax receipt on your AFE file.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"faq-content\"><div class=\"dc_faq\" id=\"why-is-my-bursary-showing-up-as-a-loan\"><div class=\"dc_faq-title\"><button>Why is my bursary showing up as a loan?<\/button><\/div><div class=\"dc_faq-body\"> <\/p>\n<p>All deposits are made under the title of loan throughout your academic year. At the end of each academic year, the ministry confirms your income and completes a conversion of loan to bursary.
