These instructions refer to photography but apply to video and audio recordings as well.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style>\n\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t.dc_accordion .dc_accordion-body:before{\n\t\t\t\tdisplay: block;\n\t\t\t\theight: 10px;height: 1rem;\n\t\t\t\tcontent: \"\";\n\t\t\t}\n\n\t\t\t\n\n\n\t\t<\/style>\n\n\n\t\t<div id=\"what-constitutes-photo-consent\" class=\"new dc_accordion  multiple\" style=\"\" ><h3 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#what-constitutes-photo-consent\">What constitutes photo consent?<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><p>You must inform the individual:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who will use their photo (what institutions)<\/li>\n<li>To what end the photo will be used (what purpose)<\/li>\n<li>Where their photo will appear (what platforms)<\/li>\n<li>For how long their photo will be used (how many years)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remember that even if it is obtained, consent can be withdrawn at a later date.<br \/><\/div><\/div>\n<div id=\"who-do-you-need-consent-from\" class=\"new dc_accordion  multiple\" style=\"\" ><h3 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#who-do-you-need-consent-from\">Who do you need consent from?<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><p>Consent is required from <strong>recognizable<\/strong> individuals who are the <strong>object<\/strong> of a photo. It is not required from every person in a photo (ex. from individuals appearing in the background or for generic photos of crowds).<\/p>\n<p>For minors (those under 18-years-old), either they <strong>or<\/strong> their parents can provide consent.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<div id=\"does-dawson-college-have-a-standard-photo-consent-form\" class=\"new dc_accordion  multiple\" style=\"\" ><h3 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#does-dawson-college-have-a-standard-photo-consent-form\">Does Dawson College have a standard Photo Consent Form?<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><p>The F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des c\u00e9geps provides a standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www-chris.dawsoncollege.qc.ca\/communications-office\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/132\/Photo-Consent-Form-Dawson-College-Feb-2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Photo Consent Form<\/a> for use by all C\u00e9geps.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<div id=\"can-i-get-verbal-consent-instead-of-written-consent\" class=\"new dc_accordion  multiple\" style=\"\" ><h3 class=\"dc_accordion-title highlighta\" ><a class=\"\" style=\"\" href=\"#can-i-get-verbal-consent-instead-of-written-consent\">Can I get verbal consent instead of written consent?<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"dc_accordion-body \" style=\"\" ><p>Both written and verbal consent are legally valid in Quebec.
